Description: Courtesy Duncan Campbell Scott, "The Canadian Indians and the Great World War", in "Canada in the Great World War". Captain [sic] Brant was the grandson of Jacob Brant (himself a grandson of the distinguished Iroquois War Chief, Joseph Brant) and of Molly Jones Brant, Peter Jones's sister. Cameron Brant was born in 1887 in Brant County. He enlisted on 22nd September, 1914. He was assigned as a lieutenant to the 4th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force and was killed in action on 24th April, 1915. He is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. The illustration is from "The Mississauga of New Credit", by Donald B. Smith with the assistance of Bryan LaForme, Volume 22 of "Canada's Visual History", from the National Museum of Man, National Museums of Canada and the National Film Board of Canada.
