Friends of the Library BUILDING bridges and making
Over their 20 years of supporting literacy and library services, the group has donated
gently used library books to agencies in Africa, India, South America, Northern Ontario, Europe
and the Philippines.
This past fall, 500 children's books were donated to a school in the Philippines. Harriet Dy,
the Mississauga resident who arranged the donation, sent these photos of the children who now
benefit from these titles.
"It is a great feeling to know that some of our withdrawn children's books are being
put to such great use." says Bill Crawford, Book Sale Coordinator for the Friends
The Friends of the Library is a non profit, volunteer, citizens' groups established in 1989.
Its main purpose is to promote literacy and extend the programs and services of the Mississauga
Library System within the community.
Are you a member of the Friends of the Mississauga Library? Maybe this is the year to join.
Membership forms are available online and at all branch libraries. Together we can work to make
a great library even better.
