Description: A view of wing construction at the McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft plant, Malton. McDonnell-Douglas took over the site of the A. V. Roe plant in Malton where the Avro Arrow was produced. The A. V. Roe Company had sprung out of the Victory Aircraft Company, originally National Steel Car Company, makers of the Lysander aircraft and the Lancaster bomber. A. V. Roe also produced aircraft, including the famous Avro Arrow, which was later abandoned and destroyed during the Diefenbaker government. McDonnell Douglas were themselves taken over by Boeing.
