Insurance & Claims

The City of Mississauga Risk Management section is responsible for the three main areas: risk financing, risk control and claims administration. The business of managing risk cannot be done in silos. Managing risk requires the assistance and cooperation of all City departments and for this reason Risk Management works closely with all departments. Similar to most large corporations, the City retains a large portion of its risk in exchange for lower insurance premium. In addition to reducing the City's exposure to insurance price spikes, the premium savings have assisted in building the City's insurance reserve fund as well as stress the importance of ensuring an effective risk management program is in place.

If you are interested in knowing more about the Risk Management function, we would like to hear from you. Please e-mail or call (905) 615-3200 ext. 3922.

If your property was damaged by a City owned fallen tree and you are considering making a claim against the City, please read important information regarding tree related claims. For information on the claims process, please read How to File a Claim..
