Description: 1147 Dixie Road, Conc 2 DSD, pt. Lot 5. This is a one-and-a-half storey brick structure in an L-shaped plan in typical farm house style. The house was built in the 1860s by Thomas Goldthorpe above the Grand Trunk railway tracks on what was then Third Line (later Dixie Road). Goldthorpe had purchased the land, 50 acres, from Reginald Lindsay Ball. Thomas served as Reeve of Toronto Township from 1906-1907. In 1911 he sold 40 acres of his property to the Toronto Golf Club which the house backs on to. Several changes have been made to this structure which is listed on the Heritage Register. |
