Burnhamthorpe Trail

This project will provide new pedestrian bridges and streetscape beautification along the Burnhamthorpe Road East Corridor between Absolute Avenue and Dixie Road.
Burnhamthorpe Trail
  • The project is 95% complete including the following:
    • Intersection corner treatments with concrete paving patterns and benches
    • New transit stops with bus shelters and connections to multi-use trail
    • Two pedestrian bridges over the east and west branches of Cooksville Creek
    • Streetscape planting including 400 new trees
    • Vines planted at base of decorative grills on existing concrete noise walls

Key Dates:

  • Construction began
  • Construction scheduled to be complete Fall 2015
    • Remaining elements at intersections include safety bollards, waste/recycling units, and bike rings

What initiated the project
  • In 2010, the City of Mississauga completed a Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for the Burnhamthorpe Road East corridor
  • The project was implemented by the Transportation & Works and Park Development sections
The goal of this project is to balance the needs of all users along the Burnhamthorpe Road East trail including pedestrians and cyclists.
