Description: Photo of the south shoreline of Lake Aquitaine, showing the boardwalk and in the background, the community centre. In the foreground is freshly laid grass and a family walking along the gravel shoreline. Taken from the north side, facing south. This slide was in a series of 125 slides (FR0073-FR0197) that show the progress and development of the Meadowvale West Lake Project and the surrounding neighbourhoods. They were hand numbered (1-125) and donated in a separate slide carousel. Excavation of Lake Aquitaine began in September 1976 and continued until November 1977 when the new landscape was substantially completed. Water was allowed to flow into the lake in the spring of 1977 and normal water levels were reached on August 16, 1977. The official Grand Opening of Lake Aquitaine took place on June 24, 1978. Description as of March, 2013.
