Description: 31 Lakeshore Road East. Plan 300E, Lot 30, pt. Lot 31. On January 9, 1931, the Port Credit News reported that a new post office was to be erected immediately, and that tenders were to be submitted by January 27th in order to relieve unemployment. It was planned that the Post Office, the Customs Department and the Armouries would all be located in this new building, which was to be two storeys high and of brick construction. The building was designed by Thomas W. Fuller, Chief Architect of Public Works, and fifteen tenders were received for the construction, that of Herod Construction Company of Mimico being chosen. The building was constructed of red brick with sandstone motifs in the shape of keystones above windows, frieze, window sills and surround. The Canadian coat of arms in sandstone was placed over the main entrance, and above the frieze on the main fašade are the words "Post Office". The building was officially opened on November 6, 1931, and the Port Credit News reported that the total cost was $40,000. The Port Credit Post Office is listed on the Heritage Register.
