Description: 31 Lakeshore Road East. Plan 300E, pt. Lot 31. This post office was constructed of red brick with sandstone decorative motifs in the shape of keystones above the windows, frieze, window sills and the elaborate surround of the main entrance. The structure has a flat roof. There is an asymmetrical eight bay facade to the north which creates the front entrance onto Lakeshore Road. The windows are modern plate glass with stone sills. On the ground floor the windows are inset into a long arch that extends from the ground up above the window header. A stone keystone tops the arch with a small accent stone at the shoulder of each arch at the top of the window head. The arch forms provide a visual image of a much larger structure, giving it height and a more majestic fenestration. Over the main entrance is the Canadian coat of arms in sandstone. Above the frieze on the main facade are the words " Port Credit" carved in sandstone. There is a west square red brick addition. This structure is situated in a prominent position next to the Port Credit harbour, a very public area. The building is designated under the terms of Ontario Heritage Act. Description updated January 2019.
