Description: 35 Lakeshore Road East. Plan 300E pt Lot 17. This one storey commercial building was built as a bank in the late 1940s by the Canadian Bank of Commerce. The building features a flat roof and stucco siding. The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) was formed in 1961 from the merger of the Canadian Bank of Commerce and the Imperial Bank of Canada. The Canadian Bank of Commerce was founded in 1867, while the Imperial Bank of Canada was founded in 1875, both banks being originally based in Toronto. Prior to relocating to 35 Lakeshore Road East, the Canadian Bank of Commerce operated out of the former Sterling Bank building at 1 Stavebank Road, on the northeast corner of Stavebank Road and Lakeshore Road East. The bank ceased operating at this location in 2017 and the building was demolished in 2018 to make way for improvement of the intersection at Lakeshorel Road and Stavebank.
