Description: A portrait of Amos Wilcox from the 1877 Historical Atlas of Peel County. Amos Wilcox, the son of Isaac Wilcox, was born in York State in 1793. He purchased 200 acres of land at Lot 7, Conc 1 SDS in Toronto Township when he was 26 years old and built it into a successful farm. Wilcox served in the War of 1812-14. He fought in the battles of Queenston Heights, Stoney Creek, Detroit and Black Rock and received a medal for his action in the defeat of Fort Detroit. He is buried in Dixie Union Cemetery.
