Projected Population and Jobs Density Map 2015 and 2041

These heat maps display the projected density of population and jobs per hectare (PPJ/ha) for the City of Mississauga for the years 2015 and 2041. The maps were created to compare the change in PPJ/ha densities between the two time periods. The darker areas represent those areas of the city with higher projected density, while the lighter areas represent areas with lower projected density.

The densities were calculated by adding the people and job numbers for the Mississauga Projection Zones (MPZ, which is a geographic area), for the referenced years, which was divided by the area of the MPZ in hectares. The calculated density was applied to the MPZ centroids, from which the heat map surfaces were generated.

The City of Mississauga 2013 Growth Forecast was the source for the forecasted population and employment values for both 2015 and 2041. This is an approximate representation.
