Mississauga City Council passed a resolution this spring that permanently closes City Centre
Drive between Duke of York Boulevard and Living Arts Drive. This section of City Centre Drive
that runs through the centre of Mississauga Celebration Square will be closed to vehicular
traffic, but will remain open for use by pedestrians and cyclists.
The closure of City Centre Drive to vehicles allows for a walkable, pedestrian-friendly
space where cyclists can travel with ease. It will make Mississauga Celebration Square more
accessible for year-round activities, events and festivals that take place and will provide
easy access for service and emergency vehicles.
Alternate Routes
When travelling in the downtown core, be sure to keep this closure in mind and plan your
route accordingly. If you need to travel from Confederation Parkway or Living Arts Drive to
Duke of York Boulevard, where City Centre Drive reopens, take either Princess Royal Drive or
Burnhamthorpe Road.
