The first schools in Toronto Township were built in Dixie, Streetsville, Clarkson and Port Credit. One of the earliest schools was Egerton Ryerson's mission school at the Credit Mission for the Mississauga Indians. This collection includes photos of the early Dixie School, built in 1857, Britannia School, built in 1864, and Cooksville Public School which opened in 1873 and was eventually closed in 1978.
