The Forestry Section maintains all vegetation on City property that is adjacent to main
arterial roads, with the exception of boulevards that front private properties (residential and
commercial). Maintenance includes grass cutting, turf maintenance (seeding, fertilizing,
aeration, sodding) and leaf pick up.
Grass cutting schedule
City retained contractors complete scheduled grass cutting throughout the city depending on
weather, site conditions and scheduling conflict.
Maintaining boulevard grass
To keep our neighbourhood streets tidy, we ask residents to assist in maintaining the small
grass area between the sidewalk and roadway in front of their home. Keeping the boulevard grass
area cut will help keep your neighbourhood neat and tidy.
Pesticide use
Under the Ontario
Cosmetic Pesticides Ban, the City of Mississauga does not treat City-owned property with
pesticides.

Forestry is responsible for monitoring and controlling harmful weeds under the Nuisance
Weed and Tall Grass Control By-Law (0267-2003) on land including private property, City
facilities, grounds, yards or vacant lots. Tall Grass includes any grasses which exceed 30 cm
(12 in) in height.
