Are You a Musician Looking to Take Things to the Next Level?

Entertainment and activities | April 14, 2022

Are you a musician looking to deepen your industry knowledge and grow your talent? We’ve officially opened applications for the 2022 Love Local Music program where six lucky applicants will have the opportunity to be mentored, develop their craft and grow their business!

This year’s program focuses on skill-building workshops and industry mentorship, led by Canada’s Music Incubator. Topics include programming strategies, ticketing and concert marketing. Participants will also have an opportunity to produce their own ticketed concert at the Amphitheatre located at Mississauga Celebration Square!

Why should you apply? To:

  • Receive training and mentorship on concert production fundamentals
  • Learn to execute live music events
  • Produce your own concert in an open-air venue with support from experienced sound technicians
  • Support local talent

After a successful inaugural year in 2021, Love Local Music created more than 30 gig opportunities for local musicians and helped seven concert producers gain valuable experience through ticketed sales. The program is designed to help Mississauga’s aspiring concert producers gain the experience they need to take their business to the next level.

Testimonial from a 2021 program participant:

“While I have been familiar with producing live events for a while, I learned a ton participating in the Love Local Music program in 2021. The expert training was eye-opening. I picked up some tips and tricks I wasn’t aware of before. In addition, the show we hosted at Celebration Square Amphitheatre was a huge success, generating thousands of dollars for artists. I highly recommend all aspiring promoters give this program a try, you won’t regret it!” – Demetrius Nath, Owner/Operator, Antiskeptic Entertainment

Last year’s program featured a diverse and exciting lineup including performances by DJ Starting From Scratch, We Wander, Mike Cannz and DJ Andre 905.

Upon program completion, 2022 concerts will take place in September on Thursdays and Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m. (pending public health regulations from the Government of Ontario).

Interested? Apply by 11:59 p.m. EST on April 26 at mississauga.ca/lovelocal.
