City of Mississauga Launches 2016 Culture and Community Grants Program

The City of Mississauga is now accepting applications from community-based arts, culture and recreation organizations requiring financial support in 2016. The grants fall into three categories: The Arts and Culture Grant Program; the Cultural Festivals and Celebrations Grant Program; and the Community Grant Program.

Grant Programs

The Arts and Culture Grant Program

This program assists new, emerging and established not-for-profit arts, culture and heritage organizations. It provides grants to help eligible organizations develop exemplary programs and services for arts, culture and heritage. The grant can also be used to advance knowledge, understanding and the appreciation of arts, culture and heritage for the citizens of Mississauga.

The Culture Festivals and Celebrations Grant Program

This program assists Mississauga-based organizations by providing funding for costs associated with providing a clean and safe venue for the presentation of arts, heritage and cultural festivals and celebrations.

The Community Grant Program

This program assists Mississauga-based, non-profit and volunteer groups deliver recreation, sport, youth programs and services to the Mississauga community.

Grant Types

Operating Grants

These grants assist with the cost of general operations and program delivery for the coming year.

Project Grants

These grants are intended to support new or pilot initiatives outside the normal range of activity.

Deadline

The deadline to apply for all grants is Thursday, October 15, 2015 by 4:30 p.m.

All applications undergo a review to ensure specific criteria is met; all grants must be approved by City Council. Mandatory and optional information sessions are planned for organizations interested in applying to the City’s grant programs as outlined below.

Optional Arts & Culture Grant Information Sessions

Mississauga Central Library, Noel Ryan Auditorium, 301 Burnhamthorpe Road West.

When:

Wednesday, August 26, 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, September 2, 9 to 11 a.m.

Mandatory Cultural Festivals and Celebrations Grant Information Sessions

Mississauga Central Library, Noel Ryan Auditorium, 301 Burnhamthorpe Road West.

When:

Thursday, August 27, 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, September 3, 9 to 11 a.m.

Applications must be submitted online.

Optional Community Grant Orientation Sessions

Community Grant information sessions are available by appointment. If you are interested in booking an appointment to review the grant program, are looking for general information and/or would like advice on completing the application, please contact Astrid Jacques, co-ordinator, grants funding at 905 615-3200 ext. 4313. Applications cannot be submitted by email or fax.
