Mississauga Welcomes Visitors from the North Pole

On November 22, Mississauga Celebration Square will be transformed into the North Pole for Light Up the Square 2014, a holiday event for the whole family to enjoy. Join Santa and his elves as the event kicks off with musical performances by Billboard chart toppers Virginia to Vegas with special guests Rebel Coast, winners of YTV’s The Next Star: SuperGroup. Join Mayor Hazel McCallion as she flicks the switch to turn on the Christmas tree lights and flood the Square with holiday cheer. YTV’s Carlos Bustamente is hosting the event.

  • Skating Rink: our ice rink opens for the first time this winter season. Skate rentals available
  • Elves’ Workshop: get your face painted, make a holiday craft and join elves agility training
  • Snap a photo with Santa and his elves, brought to you by Insurance Hotline
  • Holiday Market: shop for handmade Christmas decorations and gifts, brought to you by the Weiss Blau Juniors
  • Food Trucks: grab some curbside cuisine from Beavertails, Curbalicious, Rancho Relaxo, Gorilla Cheese, CORNehCOPIA, Smokes Poutinerie, Chimney Stax Baking Co., Dirty South BBQ and Ish and Chips
  • Polar Express Train Ride: take a ride on a train around the Square’s Christmas tree
  • Sleigh Rides: enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride around the Civic Centre

Parking is available in the Civic Centre, Library and Living Arts Centre underground lots.Transit riders can customize a route and schedule information by using MiWay’s online trip planner or by calling 905-615-INFO (4636).

Light Up the Square 2014 kicks off a season of winter events at the Square including skate parties and the city’s annual New Year’s Eve party. Free events like Light Up the Square are possible through the generous support from our local community sponsors such as RBC, Insurance Hotline and media sponsors such as YTV.
