Voter turnout in Mississauga’s advanced voting up 42 per cent

Advance voting continues on June 1-2 at 22 locations for Mississauga Mayor and Ward 5 Councillor.

This past weekend saw a significant increase in voter turnout at Mississauga City Hall, marking a 42 per cent increase compared to the first three days of advance polling in the 2022 municipal election. Just over 2,250 voters voted early.

More opportunities to vote early will be available on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 where advance voting will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 22 advance voting locations across the city. Voters can vote at any advance voting location. Voters in Ward 5 will vote for their Ward 5 Councillor and Mayor. Voters in all other wards will only be voting for Mississauga’s Mayor.

Before you vote

Before you vote, verify that you’re eligible to vote, confirm or update your personal information online, view the candidates for Mayor and Ward 5 Councillor and check locations for advance voting.

How to vote

You can vote in person at any advance voting location if you are eligible to vote. To speed up the voting process, confirm that you’re on the voters’ list ahead of time or bring your Voter Notification Card with the correct information if you received one in the mail.

You must bring one piece of identification (ID) with you to the advance voting location like an Ontario driver’s licence, Ontario photo card or an insurance policy.

If you are unable to vote early or on Election Day, you can appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf. You and your proxy must complete an Appointment for Voting Proxy Form. Voting Proxy Forms must be certified before 5 p.m. on Election Day on Monday, June 10.
