World Mental Health Day – October 10

October 10 is World Mental Health Day, a day centred on advocating and raising awareness about mental health, anti-bullying and suicide prevention.

The City of Mississauga along with various municipalities worldwide including Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and Los Angeles are participating in the Light Up the World Purple movement. The Civic Centre (Clock Tower and Façade) and Celebration Square (digital screens, ribbon boards and light boxes) will be lit up purple for the entire day in support of the movement #lightuppurple.The intention is to bring attention to mental health issues, while encouraging open dialogue and conversation for those who are suffering.

The City of Mississauga believes in strengthening individuals, families and the community by offering programs that encourage health and well-being. Find out about the wide variety of activities and programs available at your local recreation centres.
