2021 budget: Get involved

We want to hear from you about our 2021 budget process. You can attend a Budget Committee meeting or contact your local councillor.

Attend a Budget Committee meeting

The next Budget Committee meeting is on October 7, where staff will discuss Fees and Charges. Detailed discussions continue on November 23, 24, 30, December 1 and 2. Following Committee discussions and public input, Council is scheduled to vote on the proposed budget on December 9.

Fees and charges

Service area presentations 

  • Monday, November 23 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Tuesday, November 24 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Monday, November 30 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Tuesday, December 1 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Wednesday, December 2 at 1:30 p.m.

Council 

  • Wednesday, December 9 at 9:30 a.m.

City Council is expected to approve the final budget at the December 9 Council meeting.

Public question periods run for a total of 15 minutes and each person can speak for five minutes in total. If you would like to speak at a Budget Committee meeting, please complete the request to speak form.

Budget allocator

The budget allocator is an online tool that shows you how spending decisions affect City services. You can also tell us how you would spend the City’s budget.

The allocator results are shared with the City’s Budget Committee to help inform their discussions on the City Business Plan and Budget.

Telephone budget session

You’re invited to participate in a telephone budget session on the proposed 2021 Budget with Mayor Bonnie Crombie and the City’s senior staff. Residents can choose from sessions taking place on October 8 (city-wide) and October 13 (Wards 1,2 and 4) and 22 (Wards 3 and 6). Staff from the Region of Peel will also participate in the city-wide session.

Register for the budget telephone session

Once registered, you will receive a call to join the session just before it starts. In addition, the city-wide session will be available to watch on Facebook Live and online. Anyone who receives a call and does not wish to participate can simply hang up.
