Mississauga Comic Expo (MCX) 2020

Mississauga Comic Expo (MCX) will be returning for the first ever, fully-virtual convention on October 9, 16, 23 and 24. MCX celebrates the diverse culture of comics, gaming, anime and more! This free event will be highlighting comic artists and authors.

Join us for guest speakers from the Manga Classics publisher and a panel from Sheridan College’s Honours Bachelor of Game Design Program.

Our featured author talk guests are Christina ‘Steenz’ Stewart, Jillian Tamaki, Johnnie Christmas and Sam Maggs. We will also have sketch challenges featuring Jamal Campbell, Sanya Anwar, Marcus To, Paris Alleyne, Anoosha Syed, and Megan Huang.

Steenz is a St. Louis cartoonist, editor, and professor. She’s the cartoonist on the strip “Heart Of The City,” the co-creator of Award-winning graphic novel “Archival Quality,” and is featured in anthologies such as Award-Winning “Elements: Fire”, “Mine!,” and “Dead Beats.” Steenz participates in and creates comics related programming and teaches cartooning at Webster University.

Jillian Tamaki is a multiple award winning graphic novel author and illustrator. She is known for her works SuperMutant, Magic Academy, Boundless, and They Say Blue. Jillian & her cousin Mariko Tamaki are the co-creators of the graphic novels SKIM and This One Summer.

Johnnie Christmas is writer of the sci-fi series “Tartarus,” the haunted romance “Crema” and graphic novel “Firebug.” He is the co-creator of the graphic novel series “Angel Catbird” with acclaimed writer Margaret Atwood. Other work includes William Gibson’s “Alien 3” and “Sheltered.”

Sam Maggs is a bestselling author of books, comics, and video games. She’s been a senior games writer, including work on Marvel’s Spider-Man; the author of many YA and middle-grade books like The Unstoppable Wasp, Con Quest!, Tell No Tales, and The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy; and a comics writer for beloved titles like Marvel Action: Captain Marvel, My Little Pony, and Transformers. She is also an on-air host for networks like Nerdist. She is a Canadian in Los Angeles, she misses Coffee Crisp and bagged milk.
