In progress City project

Uptown Node character area

The City is preparing an Official Plan Amendment (OPA) to guide and manage growth in the Uptown Node area. This area is centred around the intersection of Hurontario Street and Eglinton Avenue.

The Uptown Node is growing rapidly with several buildings under construction and new mixed-use developments on the horizon. The area will also be served by a stop on the future Hurontario Light Rail Transit. It is projected that the population could increase from 12,300 to 30,000 people based on current and upcoming development activity. The draft polices included in the OPA address the retention of office and retail space, affordable housing for new developments, new street locations, block sizes and future park locations for this growing community.

Public engagement

The draft policies will be shared online, at a virtual community meeting and at a statutory public meeting for input from the public. Learn more at

A recommendation report will presented to the City’s Planning and Development Committee in November 2020.
