Stabilization Grant

Funding is available to help community groups with the costs of providing programs and services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funding requests between $200 to $10,000 will be considered. Costs covered under this grant includes rentals, insurance, utilities and communications with members or audiences.

Examples of what could be funded

  • Outreach to attract new participants and welcome back existing members
  • Covering new or un-budgeted expenses to address provincial requirements (such as PPE, additional equipment, technology related costs for virtual or hybrid programming, additional administrative staff to check vaccine status, etc.)
  • Addressing shortfalls between rental costs and user fees due to issues such as limited capacity
  • Supporting additional facility rentals (such as for try it days or outreach events)
  • Marketing and communication costs
  • Initiatives to reduce barriers to participation (such as free or reduced cost programming)
  • Training and capacity building for staff and volunteers

Who can apply

To apply, your community group must:

  • Be a registered community group with the City
  • Be able to provide proof of financial shortfalls which can be addressed through this funding
  • Have not accessed other City of Mississauga funding (including the Stabilization Grant) or other funding programs which could support these costs

How to apply

The 2021 Stabilization Grant Program is now open. Applications will be assessed based on this criteria:

  • Rationale for funding (should demonstrate a need in the community)
  • Resident engagement or benefit to the community (accessible, inclusive)
  • Feasibility such as capacity implement

Applications will be accepted and assessed by a staff panel of subject matter experts on a continuous basis until budget allocation is reached or until December 13, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. Successful applicants will receive funding by the end of 2021 but will have until March 2022 to complete the project or initiative.
