COVID-19: latest updates on the City's response and service impacts

All facilities, including C Banquets, C Cafe, Highlands Dining Room at BraeBen and Harding Waterfront Estate, are closed to the public until further notice.

Based on the advice of Peel Public Health, at the City Council Meeting (May 27), Council has directed that permits for festivals, events, tournaments and other large gatherings/banquets with more than 50 people in city facilities be cancelled until September 7, 2020. Permit holders for large gatherings of over 50 people will be contacted directly and credited accordingly.

Community + Culture

A space Mississaugans can take pride in.

Constructed in 1985, the Civic Centre received the Governor General Award from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, which is the highest award for architecture in Canada. It has been declared an architectural landmark.

Upon entering the Civic Centre is the Great Hall. Appropriately named, this area consists of marble and granite columns rising four stories to a 20-metre-high glass skylight.

At the southeast corner of the Great Hall is the Art Gallery of Mississauga, where there is always a free-admission art exhibit to take in.

The official cornerstone of the Civic Centre was laid at the south entrance of the building, in what was originally an indoor garden conservatory.

It is this space that was chosen for the location of C Cafe. With its new, chic, urban design, the space captures the prominent architectural elements of the original conservatory. Its 3-storey wall, glazed with windows, illuminate the space with a remarkable view of the open sky. C Cafe not only honours its historical significance but creates a whole new concept. It is a place to meet and savour delicious food in the centre of all the action at Civic Centre and Mississauga Celebration Square.
