Region of Peel Family Literacy Program
1:00-3:00pm
The Region of Peel Family Literacy Program is a 9 week interactive literacy program developed for parents/caregivers of children between the ages of zero to six. The program curriculum, facilitated by community volunteers, emphasizes to participants that the activities and experiences in a child’s early years that encourage language, reading and writing skills, will in turn create a solid foundation for that child’s readiness to learn and develop in school.

After the Bloom, by Leslie Shimotakahara
Join us for a facilitated discussion about Ms Shimotakahara’s debut novel, After the Bloom, about a young Japanese-Canadian woman's quest to find her vanished mother. The author will read from the novel, take some questions about it, and talk about the process of writing it and the family history behind it.
Admission is free, however registration is required and limited to 45 people. Those interested should call the Lakeview Library at 905-615-4805 to reserve their seat.

Yoga 60 Minutes

In partnership with City of Mississauga Recreation. Regular practice of yoga can improve your muscle tone and increase flexibility. Each yoga class uses a variety of muscle stretching principles and movements combined with breathing and relaxation techniques to reduce muscle tension and stress. Beginners welcome! New Parent Workshop (St. John Ambulance)

This 3 hour non-certificate workshop is structured to teach essential emergency skills to new parents, grandparents and siblings over 14 years old. The training is focused on accident and injury prevention, first aid, choking and CPR techniques used on newborns, infants and young children. Training helps ensure caregivers are confidently able to respond to injuries or medical emergencies using the current protocols and most effective method when minutes count.
