social sciences, religion, science and technology, mathematics, business, law, government
documents, Canadian citizenship, immigration, and career planning.
The collection comprises a variety of formats: books, periodicals, and electronic resources.

Directory

Newcomers
Settling in a new country is exciting and rewarding; it can also be challenging. The Sciences
and Business Departments Newcomers Centre offers many resources for newcomers and the
Library is a great place to start.
Career Centre
The Library offers extensive information on occupations, educational planning, career planning,
training and job search strategies. Staff are available in person, by phone or via e-mail to
answer the informational requests of employers, employment seekers, career changers and
students.
Small
Business
Books and magazines on small business and entrepreneurship topics, as well as directories and
electronic resources are all available in the Sciences and Business Department. Popular topics
include starting a business, law & legislation, writing a business plan, and business
marketing. Customers can also conduct research on specific companies, or compile lists of

Consumer Health Information
The Consumer Health Collection includes books, reference sources, magazines, pamphlets, and
electronic resources which have been selected to assist customers in achieving free and easy

Examination Proctoring
The Sciences and Business Department offers proctoring services for customers needing to write
exams for distance education courses, online courses, or professional certifications. There is
a charge of $25.00 (+HST) per exam. Please contact the Sciences and Business Department for

Encyclopedia of Forms
The O'Brien's database provides on-line access to the most comprehensive collection of Canadian
legal forms. The database provides information about contracts and allows the user to print
forms covering all areas of business and law, including commercial and corporate law; mortgages
and leases; wills, trusts and family law; labour relations and employment; the Ontario court;
plus the ever-expanding realm of computers and information technology.
OECD Economic Surveys
Each online issue of the OECD Economic Survey covers a particular country, providing a
comprehensive analysis of developments in the subject country, along with individual chapters
covering key economic challenges being faced and recommendations for dealing with the
challenges. This subscription website is available for use, through special login, in the
Central Library Sciences and Business Department. The electronic publication is available in
French or English.
