York University Science Engagement Workshops

My Robotic Friend - 10:30am to 11:30am (Ages 11 to14)
Students will explore how computers work by modelling computer function and learning about programming logic.

Rockin' Rollercoaster - 11:30am to 1:30pm (Ages 11 to 14)
Students will design and construct models of rollercoasters to investigate the laws and principles of physics.

Coding with Colours - 2:30pm to 4:00pm (Ages 8 to 10)
Students will investigate about the use of colour in computer science through Ozobots and computer-generated sprites.

Terrarium - 4:00pm to 5:30pm (Ages 8 to 10)
Students will design and build a terrarium to explore concepts of the water cycle, plant growth and ecosystems.

Programs for Older Adults

Young At Heart
Streetsville Libary's older adult social club meets the last Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.. We offer a variety of guests speakers presenting on topics such as, Yoga, Meditation, Fire Safety and Diabetes Awareness. All older adults are welcome to enjoy snacks, light refreshments and meet new older adults in the community. 

Internet and E-mail for Absolute Beginners
Saturdays from 10-12, based on availability!
Thursdays from 6-8 pm, based on availability!
A program pairing older adults wishing to learn more about computers with teen volunteers who provide one-on-one instruction. Topics include use of a mouse & keyboard, Internet & E-mail basics. Pre- Registration is required. Please call 905 615-4785
