Stay cool

When extremely hot temperatures are forecasted for the GTA, the City of Mississauga offers residents places to stay cool. These include visiting one of our 7 outdoor pools or 32 spray pads currently open throughout Mississauga.

Extended hours are in effect at outdoor pools during heat warnings, check our outdoor pool swim schedule for more information. Spray pad hours of operation are extended when a heat alert is in effect (9 am – 11 pm). Heading to Celebration Square? Stay cool in the wading pool – open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. (until Labour Day) and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. after Labour Day (times will be adjusted as per daylight hours).

When there are extremely hot temperatures forecasted, the City offers residents places to stay cool. This includes visiting one of our indoor swimming pools, air-conditioned libraries, and community centres. When heat warnings are issued by the Region of Peel, residents are encouraged to call before visiting one of these locations, as hours of operation may vary.

The Region of Peel’s Medical Officer of Health issues heat warnings and extended heat warnings for the Region upon notification from Environment Canada and Climate Change Canada’s data. For more information on extreme heat alerts and how to stay cool, please visit the Region of Peel website.
