Our creative and learning programs include art, dance, drama, music, and more. Designed for all age groups, programs are offered at different locations in the City. Choose from one-day workshops or programs that run over a few days.

Programs

Here’s a look at some of the types of programs you can find at our locations:

Arts

Drop in for arts program such as family games and crafts, senior art club, preschool messy hands, writers and poets, and more.

Dance

Children three years and above can register and choose a specialization in ballet and/or jazz. Specialty dance classes use barre exercises and traditional ballet poses for the more experienced.

Our drop-in dance programs are perfect for those who want to stay active through creative movement. Classes can include line dancing, hip hop, and seniors dance classes.

Recital dance (Full year)

Children four years and older learn ballet, tap, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, acrobatics, modern dance, musical theatre and production in a 26 week program. All students will perform in a dance recital at the Living Arts Centre, complete with professionally designed costumes.

Music

Learn to play an instrument in one of our youth and adult programs or register for our parent toddler musical programs.

Expand your creativity through music with our drop-in classes such as swing band, older adult classes, Vocalmotion, and the entertainers.

Drama

Improvisation, character development, storytelling and scene building are all part of developing a great script! Students will be led through the creative process to deliver a final performance.

Visual Arts

We offer a variety of courses for ages four to adult. Learn or improve your skills in painting, clay, crafts, drawing and sketching, sewing, origami, and woodworking.

Digital and Design

Affordable classes for all skill levels in digital arts, web and app design. Use free open source software to create amazing digital art projects.

Creative Writing

If you’ve got a great idea for a story, want to share your thoughts and opinions in a blog or want to learn how to write lyrics for a song, there is a class for you.

One Day Workshops

Specialty classes cover a large range of interests such as making your own horror film, the art of mixology, becoming a successful freelance writer, do it yourself wedding ideas, entertaining in style, mystery adventure evening, health and intelligent nutrition, hairstyles for your daughter and more.

Cooking

Learn the basics of cooking, baking and decorating classes.

Learning

These classes focus on  learning a life skill, improving academic results or fun seasonal activities including spelling bees, essential babysitting skills, introduction to computers, internet marketing for your business, and more.

Sauga at Play

Free, drop in activities 10 to 18 year olds after school and in some centres during lunchtime. Sauga At Play provides a safe, fun, youth friendly environment that supports the 5 C’s of youth development: Competence, Connection, Confidence, Caring and Character.
