PHYSICAL ACTIVITY is a building block to helping children thrive
Children today are busier than ever with schoolwork and scheduled activities - and their parents are even busier. The world is believed to be a more dangerous place where children are not allowed to roam as independently as they once did. Canadian weather can keep kids indoors more frequently, especially when the lure of screens - video games, television, the internet and smartphones - is constant. What might have once been a natural activity for children, to run outside and play, has been engineered out of modern life.
With only 5% of children meeting the Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines of 60 minutes of physical activity every day, play might be one of the easiest, most affordable and fun ways for our children to get moving. The City of Mississauga is committed to supporting the benefits of play through a free, no registration playground program for healthier and happier children, parents and caregivers.
We train all our leaders working with children in HIGH FIVE ® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) to best address the needs of your child. HIGH FIVE ® helps us ensure your child is in good hands and will enjoy a positive experience in our programs.
