May 26 – Medication: Implications on Exercise Part 1 (Blood Pressure, Medications & Exercise)
Join us on May 26. Presented by Heather Hadden
Heather will use her expertise of Licensed Pharmacist and Certified Older Adult Fitness Specialist to explain the effects of land and water exercise on the body. Learn how certain disease states can affect exercise, how medications (prescription, over the counter and herbal) may alter body systems, and the necessary precautions to take when exercising.
June 2 – Learn to Paint a Night-time Skyline
Join us on June 2. Presented by City of Mississauga
Explore the power of contrast and saturation by creating a night-time cityscape using lines and dots. We will be using examples from New York based artist Yoon Hyup.
Materials: Acrylic paint (Bright colours – white, yellows, pinks, oranges, reds, blues), Black cardstock (or black canvas), round pointed paint brush, q-tips, water container, palette, rag.

June 16 – Inaadiziwin (A Way of Life)

Learn about Anishinaabe life, including daily and seasonal routines and the contributions of Indigenous Peoples to the fur trade. Discover building materials such as spruce root and birch bark, technologies such as the birch bark canoe and snowshoe, and foods such as berries, wild rice and maple sugar. Learn about trading practices and how the knowledge and technologies shared by Indigenous Peoples with Europeans helped expand the fur trade across North America.
June 23 – Pride Matters!

Pride is about celebrating the diversity of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, but it is also about the fight for fair and equal treatment for all. Many queer people have been told that they are not welcome or acceptable, which makes choosing to live in joy and love a radical act of resistance, as well as celebration. This session will look at some of the historical milestones that bring us to 2026 and why Pride matters today.

Join Mississauga’s public art curator for an introduction to the City of Mississauga’s public art collection, with a special look at recent artworks created by Indigenous artists. This talk will explore the stories behind these artworks, including the Woodlands art style that comes from the Great Lakes region. Learn how these pieces honour the original peoples of this land and how they help us understand the importance of Indigenous culture and community in Mississauga today.
June 11 – Growing Healthy Places: Mississauga

Growing Healthy Places: Mississauga aims to improve physical activity, access to nourishing food, and overall quality of life for children aged 6-13 in underserved Mississauga communities. Bringing together partners such as school communities, municipal governments, academic institutions and non-profit organizations, the initiative will support the city of Mississauga in the co-design, implementation, and evaluation of tailored solutions that meet community needs. This talk will speak about the coalition and how bringing together the partners is achieving sustainable actions.
June 18 – A Selection of Works by Dora de Pedery-Hunt

Perhaps best known for her design of the Queen’s effigy on our coinage, this Hungarian-Canadian artist was also an accomplished medal designer who was skilled in many disciplines. This talk will use a PowerPoint slide show to highlight some of her many artworks.
