In October 2013, the Mississauga Library System began to convert its existing collection of 1.3 million items to Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). Woodlands Library and Courtneypark Library were  launched Self-Serve Check-Out early in June 2014. The roll-out of RFID Self-Serve Check-Out to the remaining libraries began in the fall of 2014 and continue through mid-2015.  Please check back here for updates.

Self-Serve Check-Out User Guide
Fast, easy and convenient! Self Check-Out terminals allow customers to check-out their own items quickly and simply. They also allow for increased privacy for customers. Step-by-step instructions are displayed on a simple to use touchscreen. At the Self Check-Out terminals customers will be able to check-out items and renew items that are present.

For a Quick and Easy Check-Out:

 

  • Read the instructions on the screen.
  • Press the "START" button.
  • Scan your library card using the barcode scanner.
  • Enter your PIN (typically the last 4 digits of your phone number) using the on screen number pad.
  • Place up to three items (cover face-up) on the antenna pad.
  • Remove items from the antenna pad and add extra items if required. Repeat the process as needed.
  • Press the "Finished" button when you have check-out all your items.
  • You will be offered a choice of a receipt or no receipt. If you choose a receipt, you will have the option of one being printed or emailed to you. The email option is available only if you have an email address registered in your library account.

Customers Will Not Be Able to Use the Self Check-Out Terminals if:

  • They do not have a valid Mississauga Library card.
  • Their card is marked Lost.
  • Their non-resident card is expired or set to expire before the items are due.
  • Their account has been blocked because of bills/fines reaching $20. When there are charges of $20 or more on their account, they will need to see staff to have their items checked-out.
