Lifeguard helping child fit lifejacket

Join us on July 24, 2024, for Water Safety Awareness Day, a community event dedicated to educating and equipping people with essential water safety skills. Drowning is a significant concern, claiming about 236,000 lives annually worldwide and ranking among the leading causes of death for children aged 5 to 15.

Throughout the event, you’ll participate in activities and educational sessions led by experts:

  • Learn backyard pool safety from the Lifesaving Society.
  • Discover boating safety and proper life jacket (PFD) selection from Peel Region Police (Marine Unit).
  • Understand open water safety with tips from Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services.
  • Gain insights into CPR and AED use in emergencies from Peel Region Paramedics.

Join in a community water safety skills relay race, watch live CPR and AED demonstrations, draw prizes, and more.

Visit our Community Partner’s marketplace to gather information, ask questions, and connect with others dedicated to promoting water safety.

Together, let’s make every water interaction a safe one. We look forward to seeing you at Water Safety Awareness Day 2024.
