The PRESTO app, Prestocard.ca and mobile wallet services will be unavailable for scheduled updates from January 30 at 11 p.m. to January 31 at 7 a.m. Please load your card ahead of time. You can still tap or use contactless payment to pay your fare and load your card at vending machines or customer service outlets.

Children ages 6 to 12 can ride free with PRESTO

Student with backpackStarting May 1, 2023, children ages 6 to 12 can ride free on MiWay with a PRESTO card.

This update is part of a one-year pilot program that MiWay is introducing to make transit even more affordable for customers.

In order for children ages 6 to 12 to ride free on MiWay, they will need a PRESTO card set to pay the Child fare type before they board the bus.

Children ages 5 and under can also ride free on MiWay when they are accompanied by a fare paying customer.

To set the fare type on a PRESTO card, please visit a Customer Service Outlet and show proof of age. PRESTO cards that aren’t set to a specific fare type will be charged the Adult PRESTO single fare.

MiWay will compile and assess the data to evaluate the pilot program and provide a report back to Council for consideration in fall 2023.
