New: Free MiWay rides for military members

Starting July 1, Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members (regular or reserved) and veterans can ride MiWay for free with PRESTO.

This goes beyond the free rides on Warriors Day and Remembrance Day. It’s yet another way the City recognizes military members for their service.

To ride free, serving members and veterans are required to:

    • Get a PRESTO card
Riders can add a free digital PRESTO card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet or purchase a physical card for $4 at a customer service outlet.
    • Set the correct fare type
Visit a customer service outlet with a PRESTO card and valid ID to have the CAF/veteran fare type applied on your card. Accepted ID includes a Canadian Military Service ID, Temporary National Defence ID Card, or military uniform/medals.
    • Tap when boarding
Tap your PRESTO card as usual. Your fare will display as a free ride.

PRESTO cards that do not have a set fare type will be charged the $3.50 adult single fare per ride. Without a PRESTO card, the cash fare is $4.50.

Why choose MiWay

MiWay is one of the largest transit systems in Ontario. It has almost 70 routes and boasts more than 3,000 stops and 58 million boardings each year.

Chances are, there’s a MiWay stop just a short walk from home, making it easy to get to community centres, shopping areas and medical appointments – no matter where you live in Mississauga.

With a network this large, MiWay gives you options. Everyday trips can be simpler and more convenient with MiWay.

Paired with PRESTO, riding MiWay becomes even more affordable.

Enjoy free transfers with Ontario’s One Fare Program. With this integrated system across the region, this means MiWay riders can transfer for free to the TTC. You can also enjoy free transfers with the GO Transit fare integration when you use the GO train or GO bus.
