Transit infrastructure accessibility enhancements

Work to construct and restore bus stop pads to enhance transit accessibility at various bus stop locations in Mississauga starts in May 2022. By investing in transit infrastructure to build and maintain a network that meets the needs of customers and supports a transit-oriented city, MiWay is advancing its ridership recovery strategy.

MiWay strives to provide a transportation system with services, facilities and infrastructure that are accessible to everyone. MiWay’s Annual Bus Stop Pad Program helps to advance this goal by identifying and providing new or updates to accessibility features, such as pedestrian landing pads at bus stops in Mississauga.

This is an on-street bus stop with a new concrete pad extension to ensure that there is an accessible path from the front and rear bus doors to the sidewalk.

When an on-street bus stop is identified for this annual program, the location is updated with a new concrete pad extension or the current pad extension is repaired to ensure that there is an accessible path from the front and rear bus doors to the sidewalk.
