It is mandatory to wear non-medical masks or face coverings on board buses and inside terminal buildings under the City’s Face Covering By-Law.

Children under the age of two and people with disabilities or other medical conditions that prevent them from wearing any mask will not be required to wear one.

For everyone’s safety, please keep your mask on at all times and be sure it’s fully covering your nose, mouth and chin with no gaps. Do not remove your mask to eat, drink or talk on your cell phone.

A face covering includes a mask, bandana, scarf or other covering constructed of cloth, linen or other similar fabric that fits securely to the head and is large enough to completely and comfortably cover the mouth, nose and chin without gaping.

A face shield is not an effective alternative to wearing a face covering as it does not provide full coverage of the mouth, nose and chin and does not contain your respiratory droplets. Face shields are not included in the definition of face covering in the City By-law. If a face shield is used, it should be used together with a face covering.

Under the guidance of Peel Public Health, MiWay relaxed capacity restrictions on all buses effective Aug. 4, 2020.

Buses are operating at 100 per cent capacity. When a bus reaches capacity, stops will be missed.

Operations and planning staff continuously review overcrowding incidents and reallocate buses (replacing 40 ft buses with 60ft articulated buses or adding additional trips to a route) in response to changes in demand on street.

  • Practice physical distancing – On the bus when possible, at stops, and at terminals.
  • Wash your hands – After riding be sure to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer.
  • Be patient – Our operators are doing their best to get you where you need to go and we are all in this together. Be patient. Be kind.

Pay your fare when you board the bus at the front doors.

Customers are encouraged to use PRESTO as a contactless way to pay. With PRESTO, your transfer is active for two hours from when you first tap your card on the bus.

Avoid the line ups and load your PRESTO card online at or download the official PRESTO App. Don’t have a PRESTO card? Visit a purchase location.

We have resumed fare collection and front door boarding. Passengers are to enter through the front doors, and exit through the back doors. Passengers with accessibility needs can continue to exit through the front doors.

The terminal is open to the public and customer service staff is available at the Information Booth inside the terminal building. Hours have been adjusted due to COVID-19 until further notice.

The Information Booth hours are:

  • Weekdays – 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Weekends – 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Closed on holidays

The MiWay Fares Booth hours are:

  • Monday to Friday from 11:15 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice.

Hand sanitizer units are available on the upper and lower level for the public. Units are monitored throughout the day and refilled as required by the cleaning staff.

Construction continues at the discretion of the contractor.

We have applied long-acting antimicrobial agents on all buses, operator change off cars, and non-revenue vehicles. This is the same product being used by Metrolinx and other GTHA transit agencies. Enhanced cleans inside our buses continue nightly.

Our staff continue to maintain our ongoing bus cleaning schedule and are working hard to keep our buses clean of garbage.

City Centre Transit Terminal and all City-owned Mississauga Transitway stations are receiving increased touch point cleaning.

A biohazard barrier has been installed at the operator compartment to offer enhanced protection for our operators.

Transit Operators must wear a medical-grade mask when driving the bus, until further notice.

All Transit Operators and customer facing staff are required to wear a medical mask when interacting with customers outside of their enclosed work area.

Transit Operators receive individual bottles of hand sanitizer for personal use on the job.
