Open Houses Launch Preliminary Design Phase of Hurontario-Main LRT Project

Apr 18, 2012

The City of Mississauga and the City of Brampton are holding open houses on April 25 and 26, to provide updates on the Hurontario-Main LRT project.

In 2011, the outcome of the cities' Master Plan concluded that Light Rail Transit (LRT) is the preferred form of transit along the Hurontario-Main corridor, supporting the vision for a vibrant corridor from the Lakeshore in Port Credit to downtown Brampton. An LRT system, providing key transportation connections to the cities, both north/south and with the GO Transit system, has been identified as a catalyst for sustainable, well-managed growth. For more information, visit www.hurontario-main.ca.

The Hurontario-Main LRT Project is now in the Preliminary Design and Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) Phase. This includes further design and technical studies, followed by stakeholder and public consultations as the design proceeds.

To launch this phase of the project, two drop-in style open houses have been scheduled:
