The Mayor and Councillors are elected by the residents of the City for a four-year term. Councillors represent each of the eleven City wards. The Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer of the City and provides leadership to Council.
Records and correspondence related to a Councillor’s constituent are regarded as their personal records and are not subject to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act or the City’s privacy policies. These records are kept by the Councillor in their role as an elected representative of their constituent. This means that a Councillor will not share your correspondence with staff without your permission, even when you ask a Councillor to get information or answers for you.
