Mississauga Celebrates Ontario Public Library Week

To celebrate Ontario Public Library Week (October 15 to 21), the Mississauga Library is hosting a variety of family-friendly programs, activities and events at all 18 libraries for the entire week. This year's theme is A Visit will get you Thinking. If you haven’t visited the Library in a while, next week is a great time to stop by.

ONTARIO PUBLIC LIBRARY WEEK EVENTS INCLUDE:

In Conversation with Steve Paikin
Steve Paikin, host of TVO’s The Agenda with Steve Paikin, is participating in the Library’s first In Conversation series. Paikin will sit down with Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie to discuss matters shaping the city’s future and themes from his latest book Bill Davis, Nation Builder and Not So Bland After All.

Mississauga Comic Expo (MCX) 2017
This two-day Comic Expo features artists, performers and cosplayers. Dress up in costume and witness all things from the Fandom world. This year, well-known Canadian actor Jay Baruchel joins MCX as a special guest and panellist on Saturday.

This provincially-recognized week showcases the important contributions Ontario public libraries make to education, literacy and lifelong learning.

The Mississauga Library
The Mississauga Library is one of the largest public library systems in Canada with more than 458,000 registered users. In 2016, the Library welcomed 4.86 million visitors and circulated approximately 6 million items. Since 2016, more than 785,700 eBooks and eAudiobooks have been downloaded. The Library collection consists of 1.06 million items across 18 branches conveniently located throughout Mississauga.
