City Announces New Director of Recreation

The City of Mississauga has appointed Shari Lichterman as Director of Recreation effective July 6, 2015.

Reporting to the Commissioner, Community Services, Lichterman will be responsible for leading an experienced and innovative recreation team recognized across the province for delivering outstanding customer service. She will focus on delivering the 2015 Recreation Business Plan, strengthening and building strong connections with stakeholders and meeting the recreation needs of Mississauga’s diverse community.

“I am pleased to welcome Shari to our Community Services team. She brings an extensive background and experience in recreation, programming, performance management, food and beverage and strategic partnerships,” said Paul Mitcham, Commissioner, Community Services. “She will be a great asset to an already strong management team. She is well positioned to work with Council, the community and staff to continue to deliver quality and excellence through all lines of business within the Recreation division.”

Prior to joining the City of Mississauga, Lichterman served as Vice-President of Eastern Operations at Canlan Ice Sports Corp. In this role, she had financial and operational responsibility for ice and multi-sport facilities in Ontario, Quebec and the United States. Prior to her experience at Canlan, Lichterman was an owner and the Director of Operations for Firland Management LLC, a consulting and management company specializing in ice arenas and recreational facilities.

Lichterman has a Bachelor of Commerce degree and holds designations as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Management Accountant (CMA).
