City of Mississauga Celebrates Outstanding Citizens

More than 100 residents will be recognized for their outstanding contribution to the community at Mississauga’s Civic Award of Recognition Evening.  Citizen members that have completed a four-year term on a city committee or city-affiliated board will be honoured at this event.

WHO:
Mayor Hazel McCallion and Members of Council will host the event.
Councillor Nando Iannicca and Councillor George Carlson will be the emcees.

WHEN:
Tuesday, November 4, 2014
Ceremony: 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Reception: 9 p.m. to 9 p.m.

WHERE:
Mississauga Civic Centre, 300 City Centre Drive
(Burnhamthorpe Road and Hurontario Street, west of Square One)

The ceremony will be held in the Council Chamber.
The reception will follow in the Great Hall.

WHY:
The City’s Civic Award of Recognition is part of an ongoing, annual recognition program which has honoured residents since 1992.  Other awards in the program include the Certificate of Recognition and the Civic Award of Merit.

By getting involved in local government affairs, these citizen leaders forge a link between the community, municipal policy making and the delivery of City services.  The honoured guests demonstrate a commitment to Mississauga and serve as excellent examples to others in the community.
