Civic Centre and SquareNational Public Works Week: Learn How Public Works Helps You on Your Way

The City of Mississauga goes high-tech with the launch of the new Mississauga Roads app on May 24 at Family Fun Day – a celebration of National Public Works Week (NPWW).

“The Mississauga Roads app is a great example of how the City is improving public works services and offers up-to-date information,” said Martin Powell, Transportation and Works commissioner. “Celebrate National Public Works Week (NPWW) with us and learn more about how we impact your daily life.”

During NPWW this year, have fun learning about: City construction projects on guided bus tours; traffic signals; Animal Services; stormwater; cycling and the Mississauga Transitway.

Family Fun Day

Where: Mississauga Celebration Square

When: Saturday, May 24, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

What: Interactive educational displays

• heavy equipment
• stormwater
• spill response unit
• the new Mississauga Roads app
• a rescue display by Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services at 1 p.m.

Donate to Engineers Without Borders by buying a burger. Munch on some free popcorn and bring the kids to our bouncy castle.

Public Tours at Two Transportation and Works Locations

Where: Engineering and Works, 3185 Mavis Road, and City Centre Transit
Terminal, 200 Rathburn Road West

When: Wednesday, May 21 – Friday, May 23, 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at each
facility, each day.

Students Participate

Local schools are showing their creative side by taking part in the City’s catch basin design program. Students design curbside storm drains, learn about how they work, and how they are connected to water quality.
