Goodbye blue, hello orange

Starting Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, MiWay will begin phasing out the blue buses in our fleet while expanding the number of new, orange hybrid-electric buses that provide daily service.

This transition will take place over the next 18 months. Today, about 100 of the 500 buses in MiWay’s total fleet are blue.

MiWay will continue to provide the same local and express services; however, during the transition blue and orange buses will provide service on both local and express routes.

To make sure you are catching the right route, simply check the destination sign on the front or side of the bus, to confirm it’s the route you need.

Streamlining the look of our bus fleet will help us:

  • Deliver a more consistent customer experience as we prepare for future growth and integrate new technologies into our bus fleet, such as battery-electric buses;
  • Respond with more flexibility to changes in customer demand and operational circumstances across the transit network; and
  • Prepare to integrate the network with future transit services, such as light rail transit – Hazel McCallion Line.

The colour orange has been included on buses since the municipal operation of Mississauga Transit began almost 50 years ago in November 1973.
