MiWay is ready to welcome you back

With many people working from home or learning online, we know it may have been a while since you’ve travelled with us.

We want you to know that MiWay takes your health seriously and we have implemented several features to help keep you safe.

Mandatory masks on buses and at terminals

It’s mandatory to wear a mask on board buses and inside terminal buildings under the City’s Mandatory Mask By-Law.

We ask that you please keep your mask on at all times, for everyone’s safety, and not to remove it to eat or drink (unless medically necessary), or to talk on your phone.

Daily cleaning

Our buses continue to be cleaned each and every night.

We’ve also applied a long-acting antimicrobial agent on all our buses – the same product being used by various other transit agencies.

Monitoring and adjusting service

MiWay is committed to delivering the right service at the right time while being responsive to changes in transit ridership demand.

Customer demand has grown on some routes and declined on others as travel patterns to work and school have changed. MiWay continues to monitor and adjust service frequencies across the network to ensure that service is available where and when customers need it, and the potential for overcrowding is reduced.

On busy corridors in particular, MiWay is using larger articulated (60-foot) buses on more trips to reduce the potential for overcrowding.

Knowing how full your bus is before you board

The Transit app is one example of a popular third party app that displays bus crowding data on your mobile device that MiWay makes available through Open Data.

The Transit app will display one, two or three grey person icons with the information on the next few approaching buses to indicate how crowded the bus is.
