MiWay Mobile Site receives MISA Award of Excellence in Municipal Systems

Jun 23, 2011

The City of Mississauga's MiWay Mobile Site was recognized with a prestigious Excellence in Municipal Systems award by the Municipal Information Systems Association (MISA) at its annual conference on June 7.

"Timely and reliable information is critical to providing exceptional customer service," said Geoff Marinoff, director of Transit. "Transit riders with a web-enabled smartphone now have access to an easy-to-use online method of accessing transit routes and schedules while they are on the go or waiting at a bus stop."

"The site received more than 320,000 page views and 61,000 visits from more than 10,000 unique users in May 2011, up more than 40 per cent since January." "Transit riders are finding this innovative website to be a much needed and appreciated service," added Marinoff.

The City of Mississauga launched the MiWay Mobile Site in October 2010. The Mobile Site enables customers with a smart phone or any other mobile device to view the next three departure times, or the full schedule for any day of the week, for any bus stop in Mississauga.
