Open Air Burning and Chimineas
Open Air Burning is legal in Mississauga; however, everyone must ensure outdoor fires are safe by following the Open Air Burning By-Law 0049-2003, filling out the appropriate permit and paying the applicable fee.
Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services can provide an environmental records search upon requests.
Fire Safety Plan
The Ontario Fire Code, Div. B, Section 2.8 provides for the required preparation, approval, and implementation of a fire safety plan for most buildings and occupancies.
Fireworks Vendors Require Special Business License
Mississauga Business Licensing bylaw 01-06 contains special requirements that need to be met by all prospective vendors of fireworks. This business license requires that a fire inspection be conducted of the premises where the fireworks are to be sold, and that an approval letter from Mississauga Fire & Emergency Services accompany the special business license application.
Fire Route Application Forms Online
Mississauga Fire & Emergency Services, Fire Prevention Division is pleased to now offer applicants online access to the forms necessary to make formal application for the designation of Fire Access Routes as required by By-Law 1036-81, as amended.
The City of Mississauga, Fireworks Bylaw, permits residents to set off 7.2.1. Family Class Fireworks, for a private display on their own property without the need for a permit, only, on Victoria Day and Canada Day (or a rain date the day after).
For all other dates, types/classification of Fireworks/Pyrotechnics, locations other than private residential properties, and public displays, a permit is required.
