The Southdown District Policies review is part of a continuing program to keep Mississauga
Plan (Official Plan) valid and current. The purpose of the review is to update and revise
the District Policies to be consistent with changing local circumstances and recent provincial
planning initiatives such as the Provincial Policy Statement, Planning Act reform and the
Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
Considerations for the Southdown District Policies review:
- To provide a mix of employment uses while recognizing existing operations;
- Improved urban design in recognition of the District's location as an entrance to
Mississauga and links to the waterfront;
- Recognizing the importance of the waterfront parks that are under going a master plan
exercise (Lakeside Park and park 389);
- Addressing the interface between the residential and employment communities;
- Keeping informed on the air quality issues in the area.
