The City of Mississauga offers a tax rebate on annual property taxes for low income seniors and low income persons with disabilities who own and occupy their own home. The rebate is applied to your account to offset property taxes. This program replaces the previous loan programs offered by the City and the Region of Peel.
The 2017 tax rebate was $400, beginning in 2018 this rebate will be indexed annually. The actual rebate amount will be approved by Council each spring when the tax rates are set. The rebate amount for the 2018 taxation year is $411.
To be eligible, you or your spouse must be receiving benefits under the Guaranteed Income Supplement Program, or the Ontario Disability Support Program. Applicants applying under the GIS must provide a copy of their T4A (OAS) slip for the year prior to the current tax year with their application. Example: for the 2018 application year, the 2017 T4A (OAS) slip is required.
Applicants in receipt of the Tax Rebate will automatically qualify for a Stormwater Charge Subsidy. Single family homes will receive the Subsidy on their Region of Peel water/wastewater/stormwater bill. Condominiums will have a separate cheque mailed to them from Environmental Services at the City of Mississauga.

The deadline for submitting an application is December 31st of the current taxation year. Should there be a sale within the year of the application, please contact the Citizen Contact Centre to provide a new mailing address.
